Quick, what is the one thing you remember about 5th grade?
For me, it’s a girl named Tammy who asked me to go with her in middle of class. We broke up next day during recess. She was like a foot taller than me. I couldn’t have a taller squeeze cramping my style back then.
As we get older we forget things like the milk on the way home, but we can remember a moment many years ago.
These days we have a lot of devices and technology to constantly remind us. Beeps, buzzers, and vibrations right to the medulla oblongata.
If you are Nerd Herder like me, then you probably will forget more than half the people you interviewed this month. Trust me. You will.
I put all my candidate interview notes in an application. I hardly go back through those notes too.
Why do I bring this up? I have called on some candidates that I wish I had remembered. Their resumes were never sent. They were the ‘rejects’. But, we changed ATS and I lost all my notes on these candidates.
That’s why I am going back old school. You heard me. I am going back to writing notes. But this time, I am typing notes into a Word doc, saving the file to my computer AND THEN loading the notes to my ATS.
To my Recruiters, remember this little tip. It will save you in the long run.
